The Staff of The Pure Parenting Shop

Sarah Itz, M.Ed., CPST, CBWE

I am the founder and owner of The Pure Parenting Shop. I have a background in child development and education having taught several years in a public school in Houston as well as a preschool before that. I have one daughter who was born in 2012 and one son who was born 2014. Though at first I was not successful at breastfeeding, I kept at it and now have two healthy breastfed babies, who have always been cloth diapered and worn by both their dad and I. Natural parenting has also a very important part of parenting to me as I try to limit my family's exposure to toxins and other chemicals that are in everything around us so I am very careful with what products we bring into the shop.

As I readied myself for my first baby I came to realize there was nowhere to learn about or buy cloth diapers and though the large chain stores sold baby carriers and other products none of the sales associates could provide any information about babywearing or anything else helpful other than what was on the box. I was encouraged to "fix" that problem for other mothers in the area and so I began the process of starting The Pure Parenting Shop.

In August 2013, I attended a class that allowed me to become a Certified Babywearing Educator in anticipation of opening The Pure Parenting Shop. Since then I have also become a Certified Lactation Consultant, and Child Passenger Safety Technician. With my love for teaching I also lead classes throughout the month to help caregivers in the adventure of parenting.

Gema Rangel, CPST, Doula, Notary

Gema joined our team in 2017 as an associate and now is our inventory manager and buyer. Since she came to work with us she has become a Doula both postpartum and labor and delivery, a Child Passenger Safety Technician and is currently working on her CLC so she can help families that come into the shop with questions.

Anahi Ayala, CPST

Anahi Ayala joined us in 2019 while she was still attending Heights High School. She is now manager of our Yale and Fannin location. As of March 2023 she obtained her certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician through Safe Kids Worldwide.
